Aged 19 Andrew packed his bags to leave the South West and came to London to train to be an actor. He then worked as one, under a stage-name, for a few years before becoming a director.


With The Motion Group, a production company he established after drama school, and as a freelance director Andrew directed: Over Garden's Out by Peter Gill, The Soldier's Tale by Stravinsky in a version by Jeremy Sams and later by Rebecca Lenkiewicz and Abdul Karim Kasid at the Old Vic, The Lighthouse by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies at the International Arts Festival in Montepulciano and La Tragedie de Carmen in a version by Peter Brook after the original by Bizet for Wexford Festival Opera and then English Touring Opera.


Andrew has also directed events at Buckingham Palace for the Prince's Foundation for the Arts and at the Bloomsbury Ballroom for Vivienne Westwood. In 2006 he set up Grimeborn, the opera festival at the Arcola Theatre, with Michael Harris and Mehmet Ergen.


In 2011 he established OPEN CITY, London Documentary Film Festival at UCL. He has been published in the Yale Theatre Journal and the Guardian.


He has written and directed four short-films and a first feature, the BFI Funded, Departure. He is currently developing a number of films and is being supported by the CNC (Centre National du Cinéma) to write his first film in the French language.
